Theological Education In The Digital Age: Charting An Ai-Future For All.
Abstract
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping every sphere of human life, including education and religious practice. Theological education, with its deep concern for truth, wisdom, and formation, faces both significant opportunities and serious challenges in this transition. This paper explores how AI is transforming theological education in the digital age, examines key ethical and theological questions raised by these changes, and proposes principles and practices for charting an AI- future that is accessible, just, and faithful to the core commitments of Christian theology (or other religious traditions, as appropriate). It argues that AI must be approached not only as a technological tool but as a context that reshapes human identity, relationships, and spiritual formation. The paper concludes with practical recommendations for institutions, educators, and churches seeking to adopt AI in ways that foster inclusivity, critical discernment, and genuine spiritual growth.
