Students’ Moral Discipline in Computer Age and the Vice Chancellor: The Lesbian Evidence in Southern Delta University

Abstract

Gaining admission into a University campus is the first major win in the existential ‘liberation struggle’ of a student but managing the challenges of the freedom it donates to the student in an internet age is a huge challenge. Youthful exuberance resonates with this win. With what she has on her palm, an iphone, the sky is the limit and she stands on the global stage face to face with what is downrightly immoral. The Vice Chancellor is challenged to successfully calibrate this period of her stay on the campus. This conversation was carried out with the doctrinal method. It made a critical content analysis of the episode of lesbianism that erupted in the Mass Media Departmental Group Chat between four female students and a certain non-student (Evi-Parker male) who infiltrated the group. The study found the four female students complicit in the act but for the deft handling of the crisis by the Vice Chancellor who rescued the foursome on a ‘Sabbath day’. It was recommended that strict ground rules on social media governance and sex education in GST should be instituted in addition to matriculation orientation and Counseling while the empathetic approach of the University authority to lesbianism should be emulated.
